How to Set Up, Link, Unlink, or Change Google Authentication?

1. What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a multi-layer security measure that verifies a user’s identity before granting account access, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access.

 

2FA is especially important for protecting your cryptocurrency assets and account. Even if a hacker obtains your password, they would still need a second factor (for example, Google Authenticator) to access your account, making it much harder to compromise your account security.

2. Link or set up Google Authenticator

2.1 From BingX Web

Step 1: Log in to the BingX official website and select "Account & Security" from the dropdown menu under the avatar icon.

Step 2: Scroll down to the "Security Center" section and you'll see "Google Verification". Click the "Link" button.

Step 3: Scan the QR code that corresponds to your mobile phone's operating system (iOS/Android) to download Google Authenticator. You can also download and install it directly from the app store. Then click “Next” to view the QR code and setup key.

Step 4: Open the Google Authenticator app and tap the "+" sign located at the bottom right corner. Next, scan the QR code displayed on the web page or click "Copy Key" on the webpage to complete the GA setup.

Step 5: Return to your computer. Slide to complete the verification puzzle. Fill in both verification codes received via the signup email and Google Authenticator. Click "Submit" and the linking process will be completed successfully.

2.2 From BingX App

Step 1: Log in to your BingX account and click on the avatar icon to access the sidebar. Next, click "Security Center".

Step 2: After that, click "Google Authenticator".

Step 3: Click the "Download" button to go to the app store. You can download and install the Google Authenticator app from there. Click "Copy" to copy the BingX key.

Step 4: Open the Google Authenticator app and tap the "+" sign located at the bottom right corner. Paste the BingX key to link the GA.

Step 5: Go back to the BingX app, fill in both verification codes received via the sign-up email and Google Authenticator. Click "Link" and it will return to the "Security Center" page. Your Google Authenticator will show as "Linked", indicating that the 2FA setup is completed.

2.3 FAQ

What should I do if it shows “binding failed” or “incorrect code”?

• Make sure the Google Authenticator app is installed.
• Make sure you entered the correct password and 2FA code.
• Try syncing the time on your phone and computer, and ensure your phone’s date/time is set to “automatic.” You can refer to the full guide below:

  For Android users: Make sure your Android operating system and the Google Authenticator app on your device are up to date. Go to Settings → System → Date & time and turn on Automatic date & time. With this option enabled, your device will use network-provided date and time.   Next, under Time zone, turn on Automatic time zone and Use location. This allows your device to determine the correct time zone based on your current location. If there are new time zone updates, your device will notify you.   If location is currently disabled, you can change the permission in Settings → Location and then enable Use location.   This process allows the app to sync time with Google servers and can resolve invalid code errors.

  For Apple iOS users: Make sure your device has the latest version of iOS and the Google Authenticator app installed. Go to Settings → General → Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. This will automatically set the date and time according to your time zone.If a time zone update is available, your device will notify you.   Allow the device to use your current location to determine the correct time zone. To do this, go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services → System Services, then select Set Time Zone.   Check that the time zone shown in Settings → General → Date & Time → Time Zone is correct for your device.   This process allows the app time on your device to sync with Google servers, which may resolve one cause of incorrect verification codes.

3. How to unlink or change Google Authenticator

3.1 If your Google Authenticator is available

If the Google Authenticator on your device is working properly, you can follow the steps below to manually unlink/change Google Authenticator on the web platform.

Step 1: Visit the BingX official website and log in to your account. Click your avatar and select "Account & Security" from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: In the "Security Center", you'll see "Google Verification". Click the "Unlink" button.

Step 3: Click "Get Code" and slide to complete the puzzle. Enter email code and the GA code, and click "Confirm".
After removing Google Authenticator, the system will automatically log out your account. If you wish to continue using BingX services, please log in again.

3.2 If Google Authenticator is unavailable

If your Google Authenticator is unavailable—for example, you switched to a new device without installing it or you uninstalled the authenticator—click https://bingx.com/security/reset to submit a request to remove Google Authenticator. 

Notes: 

1. You will need to upload the required verification materials as requested on the application page to ensure the security of your account and assets. 

2. After submission, the review process is expected to take 24 hours. 

3. For the safety of your assets, withdrawals, sending Crypto Gift, and similar functions will be unavailable for 24 hours after resetting Google Authenticator. Please keep your Google Authenticator secret key safe to avoid being unable to rebind after changing or losing your phone.
